Our post code has recently changed to LL39 1YP – Sat Nav should work but please note directions below.
Approaching from Dolgellau direction:
Turn off A470 Dolgellau bypass at junction signposted Tywyn/Fairbourne onto the A493. We are exactly 4.5 miles from this point so it is worth setting your milometer as we are easy to miss. You are very near us when you pass through a narrow stretch of road with walls either side and trees overhanging. We are on the brow of the slight hill on the RIGHT hand side. You will see our entrance sign on the main road. You do NOT need to turn off down any lanes and if you pass the quarry and reach Arthog village you have gone too far.
Larger caravans and motorhomes should approach from this direction as left turn from Fairbourne direction difficult.
Approaching from coast/Tywyn direction
Our entrance is directly on the A493 between Arthog and Dolgellau. Stay on A493 out of Arthog up the hill, passing the quarry on your right. About 1/4 mile past the quarry look out on the left for a small white sign saying “Concealed entrance”. That’s us on the left.
By Bike or Foot
Direct access from Mawddach Trail. Use the signposted gate from the Trail about 2 miles East of Morfa Mawddach Station.
Approaching from East, look out for large, concrete block tank traps then walk another approx 400m to the next bench. On the right hand side just back from the trail you’ll find small wooden pedestrian gate with our name on.
Approaching from West we are approx 4 miles along the Trail, West of George III pub. When you reach a long straight section with rusty upright poles left over from the railway, look out for our sign on a wooden five bar gate. Proceed for less than 100 metres to find a small wooden pedestrian gate just set back from the Trail. Once through our gate, for reception walk about 600 metres up hill through a field, past a house then across another field and up a steep track through woods. Reception is on the side of the building nearest the road.
By Train
We recommend getting off at Fairbourne station where you can pick up supplies form the shops and the No 28 bus to Dolgellau which you can ask to drop you at Graig Wen camp site. Check bus timetable as buses are not regular. Graig Wen, Arthog is our stop.
Morfa Mawddach station a little over 2 miles away with direct access along Mawddach Trail. There is no taxi rank at Morfa Mawddach station. Cader Cabs can be pre-booked and the cost will be around £25: Tel: 07766 983103.
By Bus
Occasional buses run between Aberdyfi/Machynlleth and Dolgellau (No. G21) – ask driver to drop you at Graig Wen camp site between Penmaenpool and Arthog: www.traveline.cymru
