Children have been bouncing into reception over the school holidays to tell us about their adventures. It’s been an absolute delight hearing about your holiday firsts and awarding our exclusive Graig Wen Adventurer and Trailblazer badges.
Lots of young mountaineers have scaled Cader Idris or Snowdon with their families. Lucy and Edie went wild swimming in a river with their Mum and Dad for the first time. Elise cycled 19 miles on the Mawddach Trail, rode the Fforest Treetop Coaster (and also learnt how to tie her shoe laces); Thomas and his Dad joined Corris Mine Explorers to reach an unexplored level of an old slate mine – the first members of the public to see it. Will and his Dad Nick kayaked all the way up the Mawddach Estuary from Fairbourne to the George III pub.
And it’s not just been the kids sharing their adventures… We have awarded a badge to a young woman who overcame her fear of heights to climb Snowdon; and to a resilient couple of campers whose tent blew down one stormy morning but who returned the next morning, undeterred, and with sense of humour intact, to stay for a further week with their new tent and waterproofs!
Whatever adventures you plan for your holiday at Graig Wen, please make sure you stay safe. The Adventure Smart web site is a good source of information to help you plan.
