For Spring half term we asked guest blogger Mireille Lee to share her advice and inspiration. Mireille is 12 years old and comes from Brighton. Thank you Mireille!
“As me and my family entered through the Welsh border, hills and mountains loomed into sight. All the nature reminded me of the fun I had at Graig Wen last year, making me excited all over. I pictured the outdoor hammocks, the beautiful estuary and most importantly- The Honesty Shop!
Graig Wen is a really fun holiday camping experience with so much to do! There are walking trails, a huge sharing campfire and wheelbarrows (which are meant for loading up luggage- but we use them for better reasons!). I wake up in the morning to the soft sound of birds tweeting and light pouring through the windows of my caravan which always puts me in a good mood. Sometimes I pre-order a croissant or get a mini pack of cereal for me and my sister (the honesty shop comes in handy!).
Wales is full of surprises, I remember the first time I came to Graig Wen- we visited places of all sorts. I love going crabbing in Barmouth Harbour with my dad and sister because when there’s a high tide, you can catch loads of crabs. Last time, we caught 100 or more!
Also, a good place to go is The Blue Lake. Its not far from the campsite and its completely free. The colour of the water is amazing and when you go swimming its a whole other level! One tip, if you go there, bring a wetsuit because the water can get very cold! Its always good to keep moving too!
My personal favourite destination is “Glasfryn Parc” because it has tonnes of awesome things to do. They do: Kayaking, Stand-up paddle boarding, Wakeboarding, Go-Karting, Quad-biking and to relax, bowling. I love it because their sessions are small and you can decide how long you want to do an activity for. The people are really friendly, it’s really good value and easy-going.
Graig Wen is good family fun, I always look forward to it.”
