We were so delighted to see so many locals and Graig Wen guests enjoying our first star-gazing event at Graig Wen on 11 February 2018 in association with Dark Sky Wales.
We were delighted to welcome around 100 people to the pop-up planetarium presentations at Arthog Village Hall and many continued on to Graig Wen for some telescope star-gazing with the astronomers, mulled drinks, music and toasted marshmallows around warming fires. Views of the stars came and went with some cloud so although the skies were not as epic as they can be, everyone went away with more knowledge and a sense of wonder. Many of our guests staying at Graig Wen were treated to awe-inspiring clear skies over the next few nights.
Huge thanks to the many people who helped make this event happen especially to Martin and Allan from Dark Sky Wales for their wonderful expertise, Arthog Village Hall for hosting the planetarium, Sarah’s Mum and our neighbour Laura for baking, young star-gazers for their fantastic rocket pictures and Rebecca for her star shapes, Julie for helping set up the yurt, Sarah and Prys for bar tending, Ian at Formation Creative for poster design, Sibrydion Cymuned and Toni for her work on promotion. We would also like to thank the Snowdonia Patrnership Fund for support and of course everyone who came along.
