Why not get into the Christmas spirit, support small businesses and have a lovely short break all at the same time?
During late November and December a craft fair or farmer’s market pops up just about every weekend in venues from forests to Italianate follies (guess where!) and local village halls. They are friendly places to drop in for a bit of Christmas shopping that will beat your average high street hands down for unusual gifts and atmosphere.
You can go to late night shopping evenings in traditional local towns like Dolgellau (28th November) and Barmouth (5th December) where the mulled wine and community spirit flow freely… If you prefer to decorate your home with real holly and ivy, you’ll find plenty in the woods around here.
Learn how to make natural Christmas decorations at a workshop at Coed y Brenin (8th December). For kids of all ages there are Santa specials on most of the steam trains including Fairbourne, Talyllyn and the Ffestiniog. What a magical way to start to the excitement of Christmas.
Here’s a link to some of the Christmas events in Snowdonia -or just ask us for details of some of the smaller local activities. We have short breaks available in the lead up to Christmas in our self-catering cottages, The Slate Shed B & B – and camping pitches for tourers too. And of course you are very welcome to spend the Christmas /New period itself with us at Graig Wen – you can see more details here.
