Watch a blazing sunset, drink in a mountain view with the summit to yourself, wander through forests turning from green to gold, feel the spray from a thunderous waterfall….you’ll experience epic natural wonders in Snowdonia as the season turns to Autumn. The good news is that after a busy season, from mid September we have a little more availabilty.
Come back from a day’s walking or biking in Snowdonia National Park to fire up the woodburner in one of our yurts or Jones the shepherd’s hut. If you prefer the comforts of instant heat at the flick of a switch and en suite facilities, try our stylish and cosy new quarry wagons. You can self-cater using the private kitchenettes or spend the evening at one of the traditional pubs or excellent restaurants within 10 minutes drive. Come back to base for star-gazing with a beer around the fire bowl – you’ll be blown away by the awesome night skies here at Graig Wen in one of the darkest areas of the Snowdonia Dark Skies Reserve. October and November are good times to catch meteor showers.
Explore without the crowds
Popular attractions such as ZipWorld, Portmerion and Harlech Castle will have more availability from September, especially mid-week. The mountain bike trails at Coed y Brenin are usually quieter mid-week and it’s easy to hire bikes to cycle to the seaside along the Mawddach Trail. Weekdays are also the best time to climb Snowdon if you want to avoid the crowds seen this summer. Locals’ favourite, Cader Idris mountain range is right on the doorstep. It’s a stunning mountain with a range of different routes to explore. Many other local lower level walks will take you from our door to the beach, waterfalls or up to mountain lakes.

You can book a 2 night break from £150 but there’s so much to do nearby we recommend a mid-week break or long weekend, available from £260. Our wagons and shepherd’s hut are open until early January but our yurts just have limited dates available until the end of October.
